What is an R2 registrar?
An R2 registrar — also called a certification body (CB) — is an independent organization accredited to audit electronics reuse and recycling facilities against the R2 Standard and to issue the R2 certificate.
Paradygm Consulting does not issue R2 certificates. We are a SERI Approved Consultant: we prepare your management system, documents, training and internal audit so you are ready when the CB arrives. SERI does not pick your certification body or set CB pricing. Facilities choose any SERI-approved R2 certification body.
How we work with registrars
Choosing a CB is only one step. Most of the work is getting the facility ready so the certification audit goes smoothly:
- Scope and gap assessment — which Core and Process Requirements apply, and where you stand today.
- Documentation and management system — R2v3 built on ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 (plus ISO 9001 when test and repair or brokering is in scope).
- Training and internal audit — awareness and internal auditor training, then an independent internal audit at your facility (never remote or hybrid).
- Certification audit support — help choosing a SERI-approved CB, applying for your SERI license, and support through the CB audit and any corrective actions.
- Multi-standard readiness — one integrated system so ISO and R2 requirements reinforce each other instead of fighting for attention.

How certification bodies fit the path
R2 certification is a three-part path. SERI owns the standard and the license; a SERI-approved certification body audits and issues the certificate; an R2 consultant prepares the facility.
